[This is the first in a series of postings supporting my Introduction to Living a Prayerful Life teleclass.]
Praying produces joys.
That is true even if the answer to the specific prayer does not appear immediately or completely...or at all.
Praying produces joys.
The simple and beautiful act of praying can be a full-scale source of joy. Three types of joy:
Internal.
Giving in, giving up, giving out to a conversation with Spirit creates an uplifting energy, an excitement, and exhilaration within. That's joy. You may feel it in your heart or your mind or your gut. Or any combination there of. It comes appreciating that you're seizing the opportunity to have the conversation. And there is even more joy when you let go of worry about praying a "right" way, when you let go of anticipating how the prayer will be answered, and when you let go of wondering how soon.
External.
The joy you get from praying transfers easily to the outside. Hold on to the joy feelings and let them generate smiles. Share the smiles. Putting that joy out for others to share brings even more joy. Appreciating the feel-good smooths your interaction with other people, with tasks, with responsibilities. Coats them with joy.
Eternal.
Joy lasts. Time is not. The instant of joy you feel, is in you and of you. It is not new (or old); it is always. You are merely recognizing and enJOYing it at the now moment. Praying allows joy to rise to the surface of your spirit that you may know the joy is there. Always.
Love and blessings,
